A-type shell stars and infrared sources
Following the discovery of a dust cloud around an A-type shell star, thesituation of all known Ae/A shell stars is examined. Nineteen stars ofthis group observed by IRAS are found, and of these 19, eight areinfrared anomalous emitters (IAE). The temperatures of the anomalousemitting sources are of the order of 50-400 K, although three casesrequire two superposed cool sources. The proportion of IAEs among Ae/Ashell stars is very high, when compared to a sample of nonshell A-typestars. This suggests a close link between the membership in the groupand IAE.
