Appulses and occultations of SAO stars by Mercury - 1987-1995
While no readily observable occultations were found in the presentpredictions for 78 close approaches by Mercury to stars in theSmithsonian Astrophysical Observatory catalog (1966) over the periodJanuary 1, 1987-December 31, 1995, seven occultations of stars withvisual magnitudes of 7 or fainter are noted. These events are presentedwith a view to searches for material in the vicinity of Mercury, as wellas investigations requiring close, bright stars for the improvement ofground-based Mercury images.

UBV photometry of stars whose positions are accurately known.
Photometric indices V, B-V, and U-B were measured for about 560 stars ofthe AGK3R and NPZT catalogs between BD declinations 11 deg and 23 deg, using the 40-cm Cassegrain telescope of the Kvistaberg Observatory fromApril 1986 to May 1987. The observation procedure and the reductiontechnique were the same as in the earlier papers of this series by Oja(1984, 1985, 1986, and 1987). The mean errors were calculated from theinternal consistency of the data. The accuracy was found to be the sameas for the earlier parts of the survey.

Photoelectric observations of lunar occultations. XIV
Observations of 314 events between March 1982 and March 1983 arepresented in the same form as in previous papers in this series. Theresults include 18 cases of duplicity of which 12 appear to be newdiscoveries. Unluckily, few cases of possible large angular diametersoccurred, and in no case can the results derived be accepted withoutreserve, these having been observed at very low altitudes withconsequent severe corruption by seeing effects. A remark on theincidence of doubles in the Hyades and its possible consequences forestimates of stellar distances is appended.
